Lagrangian drifting buoy is a small intelligent surface drifting buoy
independently developed by Frankstar, which can be used for sea current
observation based on Lagrangian principle.
The buoy consists of intelligent floats, underwater sails and connecting cables.
With the help of the water sails, it can drift with the sea currents at a specific depth,
and at the same time use the satellite positioning system to determine the spatial
position and drift trajectory, and then based on the Lagrangian principle, calculate the
current speed and direction to get the current observation data of a specific area
of the sea, so as to further study and analyze the characteristics and changes of
the sea currents.
The buoy is compact, simple in structure, stable in operation, easy to deploy, with a
variety of communication options, and low cost, making it an economical solution for large-scale
current observation.
2 Functional characteristics
① Special sails. Good flow.
The sail is made of nylon canvas material with professional structural design, which can
efficiently utilize the kinetic energy of the sea current, and can better drift with the sea
current.
② Compact size and easy to deploy
Float diameter of about half a meter, the diameter of the sail is less than one meter, after
stacking the small volume of light weight, easy to transport and deployment with the ship

The position information of the buoy can be transmitted back in real time through 4g, Iridium satellite, radio and other means.
