Frankstar Tsunami Buoy is a comprehensive system for deep-sea tsunami monitoring and early warning applications. It mainly consists of surface main buoy, seabed base station, underwater acoustic communication link and satellite communication link.
Adopting an architecture of seabed sensing, surface relay and satellite data transmission, the system continuously monitors tiny variations in seawater pressure via high-precision pressure detectors deployed on the seabed, and identifies water level fluctuations caused by tsunamis through data algorithms.
During operation, the seabed base station is deployed on the seafloor to collect, process, store pressure data and transmit data via underwater acoustics. After receiving data from the seabed base station, the surface buoy system will send data back to the shore receiving center through satellite.
The system provides real-time, reliable critical data support for tsunami monitoring, early warning assessment and emergency response. Featuring deep-sea deployment, long-term unattended operation, real-time communication, anomaly event alerting, remote monitoring and recoverability, it serves as vital equipment for building a tsunami monitoring and early warning system. It can be widely applied in high tsunami-risk sea areas, seismically active submarine zones, deep-sea observation sections, offshore waters of key ports, and construction of marine disaster early warning networks.
● Deep-Sea Tsunami Monitoring
Pressure detectors deployed on the seabed continuously acquire seabed pressure data and invert sea level variations from pressure changes, enabling effective identification of tsunami long-wave signals. It fits early tsunami monitoring in open and deep ocean environments.
● Underwater Acoustic Data Transmission
Both the seabed base station and surface main buoy are equipped with acoustic communicators. The acoustic communicator on the seabed base station transmits data to the surface buoy, while the buoy’s acoustic unit receives underwater data.
● Optional Multi-Satellite Communication Modes
The main buoy is fitted with satellite communication modules, supporting satellite or low-orbit satellite communication as required. It realizes remote data transmission in far oceans to meet demands of unattended, long-distance and cross-regional monitoring.
● Anomaly Identification & Alert Reporting
Anomaly events are identified based on pressure, water level variations and data fluctuation characteristics. When monitoring data exceed preset thresholds, the system switches to intensive data reporting mode to deliver key information to the shore-based center promptly.
● Recoverable Subsea Equipment
The seabed base station is equipped with releasers and floats. During recovery, the release mechanism is triggered to separate the subsea device from the anchoring structure, allowing it to float up to the sea surface.
● Modular Expansion Capability
Various marine environmental sensor modules can be expanded according to project demands, supporting multi-scenario applications including marine disaster monitoring, marine observation network construction and scientific research observation.
